SAN FRANCISCO – Paige Alexander scored twice and had an assist in Gonzaga women's soccer's 4-0 road win at San Francisco Thursday.
The Zags (7-6-2, 3-2-1 West Coast Conference) scored four times for the second straight win. Alexander jumped up to 17 points for the season, with 13 coming in league play. GU's 19 goals in WCC play leads the conference. Fourteen of those goals have come in the second half. The Bulldogs are outscoring opponents 11-4 in the second half in their three WCC victories.
Alexander opened the scoring in the 39
th minute, with an assist to
Chelsea Le. In the 56
th minute, Alexander kicked in a deflected ball for her second goal and sixth of the season. Alexander was credited with her fifth assist of the year in the 61
st minute on a
Katelyn Rigg goal.
Abbie Sicilia capped off the scoring in the 74
th minute with another assist to Le.
Gonzaga outshot USF (4-8-2, 0-4-2 WCC) in the match, 18-12. The Bulldogs had an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal and 8-1 in corner kicks. The Dons' Kira Ybarra and GU's
Michaela McCollum both finished with five saves.
