SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The Gonzaga men's soccer team fell to Santa Clara on the road during the midweek match, 1-0.
The Zags and Broncos were tied at halftime, 0-0. The shots were almost even as Gonzaga (6-8-2, 0-6-0 West Coast Conference) took six and the Broncos (5-6-3, 2-2-2 WCC) recorded seven.Â
Santa Clara scored the one goal of the game in the 50th minute. Will Wiersdorf found the back of the net on the left side with the assist coming from Alvaro Gironda.
The Bulldogs recorded two more shots in the second half to total eight in the game, compared to SCU's 10 shots. The Zags had three of those shots on goal, coming from
Ben Augee,
Chris Swider and
Drew Pedersen.Â
Chema Preciado was in net for GU and he made four saves on the night. The Bulldogs also had six corner kicks awarded as SCU took none.
