SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Gonzaga men's soccer team dropped a closed contest to San Francisco, 3-2, on Wednesday night at Luger Field.
USF (3-5-2, 2-0 WCC) scored first in the first 49 seconds of the game with a goal from Chris Maldonado, to take the early 1-0 lead over GU (6-5-2, 0-3 WCC).
Ben Augee scored the equalizer in the 16th minute with the assist coming from
Ian Silva, which made it tied at 1-1.
Gonzaga took the lead right before halftime at the 34th minute with a goal from
Damoni Mckenna-Greenawalt. The assist came from
Drew Pedersen as the Zags took the 2-1 lead going into halftime.
The Dons tied the game back up in the 75th minute as Isaiah Easley passed the ball to Brayden Beason for the score.Â
The game remained tied at 2-2 until the 88th minute when Beason dished a pass to Easley to score the game-winning goal.Â
Overall, USF outshot Gonzaga 19-6.
Chris Swider led the way with two shots for the Zags.
Chema Preciado also made 10 saves in net for Gonzaga.
