SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's track head coach Jake Stewart has announced their schedule for the 2024-25 indoor season. Beginning in Boston for the second straight season on Dec. 7, the indoor slate will run until the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships March 14-15 before transitioning to the outdoor season later in March.
Last year at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, Gonzaga came home with a pair of new program records in
Rosina Machu (5000m) and
Alicia Anderson (3000m). This year, the Zags will return to Boston in hopes of recording indoor qualifying times for the NCAA Championships in March.
GU will wrap 2024 with the Spokane Invitational (Dec. 14) in their first of six meets at The Podium. One month later, the Bulldogs will return to The Podium for a pair of meets on Jan. 17-18. The Spokane Sports Showcase and the Spokane Indoor Challenge will run concurrently, featuring some of the region's top runners and one of the venue's top meets of the indoor season. Gonzaga will race in both of those meets that weekend.
Gonzaga will wrap up their final meets at The Podium on three straight weekends in February. On Feb. 1, GU will race at Whitworth's Inland Northwest Invitational. Next, the Zags will race Feb. 7-8 at the Riverfront Invitational & Multis, hosted by Spokane Sports before wrapping up inside The Podium Feb. 14-15 at the Whitworth Invitational.
A stop at Washington's Dempsey Indoor is the final stop for the indoor season Feb. 14-15. The Husky Classic will be the last chance to secure some qualifying times at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Last year, the women's 3000-meter and 800-meter records were broken at the Husky Classic.
The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships are set for March 14-15 in Virginia Beach, Va., and will be hosted by Norfolk State.
