WBB Travels to Paradise Jam in Virgin Islands

The Zags will face Missouri State, Texas Tech and Florida State

THE TIPOFF

- The Gonzaga women's basketball travels to the U.S. Virgin Islands to play in the Paradise Jam. The Zags will face Missouri State first, followed by Texas Tech and Florida State.
- Gonzaga is coming off an 81-68 win at New Mexico. Yvonne Ejim nearly had a triple double with 26 points, 17 rebounds and eight assists. Maud Huijbens was the next leading scorer with 15 points and Ines Bettencourt had 16 points after shooting at 50% from beyond the arc.
- Yvonne Ejim has a chance to make history in the record books. She currently has 1,776 career points and is 389 points away from breaking the all-time scoring record. She has recorded 29 double doubles in her career and has scored double digits in 48-straight games.
- Ejim is now third all-time in rebounds with 880. She will move into second with 53 more rebounds.
- Allie Turner has made a huge impact as a freshman already this season. She ranks first in the nation in three-points made (17) and is averaging 13.5 points per game. Turner is also the first true freshman to score 20 points in a game since Courtney Vandersloot.
- Ejim leads the Zags with 18.2 points and 9.6 rebounds a game this season. She was just named the WCC Player of the Week for the first time this season as Allie Turner was the WCC Freshman of the Week for the second time this year. 
- Gonzaga is shooting at 40.3% from beyond the arc to rank 14th nationally and first in the WCC.  
- As a team, GU has a rebound margin of +10 in the six games played and average 38.7.
- Claire O'Connor has made a three-pointer in every game this season.
- Head coach Lisa Fortier currently sits at 269-65 in her career. Among active Division I coaches, she is seventh in winning percentage at 80.5%. 
- The Bulldogs were picked to finish first in the West Coast Conference in preseason polls for the third-straight season. Ejim and Maud Huijbens were named to the All-WCC Preseason Team.
- Lisa Fortier was named to the Kathy Delaney-Smith Coach of the Year preseason watch list after she had won the award last season.
- The Bulldogs are coming off a historical season after advancing to the Sweet 16 for the fifth time in program history. GU finished with 32 wins last year, which was the most in program history.
- Last season, Yvonne Ejim was named an AP All-American Honorable Mention, Naismith POY Watch List, Katrina McClain Top 5 Power Forward Finalist, the Wade Trophy Watch List along winning the Becky Hammon Player of the Year, WCC Player of the Year and WCC Defensive Player of the Year. 
- Lisa Fortier was named a semifinalist for the Naismith Coach of the Year award as she led the Zags to its 15th overall NCAA appearance last year.

SCOUTING MISSOURI STATE
- Missouri State is currently 3-1 overall.
- Three Lady Bears are averaging double figure points per game on the season - Kyrah Daniels (17.0 ppg), Sarah Linthacum (12.8 ppg) and Lacy Stokes (14 ppg). Daniels also leads the team in three-point field goals (11) and Stokes paces MSU with 18 assists. 
- Linthacum (Sr., Jefferson City, Mo.) is making a major impact in a Lady Bear uniform, leading the team with 8.5 rebounds/game and a .500 shooting percentage. 
- Missouri State has been getting to the free throw line frequently in the early part of the season. The Lady Bears rank 9th nationally in FTA per game (26.5) and 51st in FTM per game (16). 

SCOUTING TEXAS TECH
- Entering Paradise Jam, Texas Tech is 6-0. 
- The Lady Raiders currently average 6.8 blocks per game, which ranks ninth nationally and third in the Big 12. 
- Junior Sarengbe Sanogo averages 3.6 blocks per game, leading the team in that category, while ranking fifth nationally and second in conference in blocks per game. She also ranks third in the nation and second in the Big 12 with 18 total blocks. 
- The Lady Raiders are only allowing opponents 49.6 points per game, ranking 20th in the country and third in the Big 12 in that category. Tech is also forcing 23.2 turnovers per game and holds a turnover margin of 5.60, which rank 41st and 64th in the NCAA, respectively.

SCOUTING FLORIDA STATE
- Florida State is entering Paradise Jam at 5-1.
- Ta'Niya Latson leads the nation with 27.3 points per game over four games played (as of Nov. 21).
- Timpson registered a career high 38 points against Samford. With Ta'Niya Latson out of the lineup due to illness, Timpson contributed the third-highest point total in program history. She was just two points shy of the FSU single-game record set by Natasha Howard at 40 points against Syracuse in 2014. She was named the ACC Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
