THE OPENING TIP
- Gonzaga squares off with Davidson on the final day of the 2024 Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis in the Imperial Arena on Paradise Island, Bahamas, Friday at 5:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
- In their last game, Khalif Battle led a balanced attack with 16 points, Ryan Nembhard had a double-double and No. 3 Gonzaga used a first-half blitz to beat No. 14 Indiana 89-73 Thursday. Nembhard had 11 points and a career-high 13 assists for the Bulldogs. Michael Ajayi and Nolan Hickman added 15 points.
- Ryan Nembhard's 72 assists top the nation through seven games. Nembhard's 10.3 assists per game also leads the country. The senior has 12 turnovers. His 6.00 assist-to-turnover ratio is sixth in the country.
 
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
- After falling to Arizona in the quarterfinals Wednesday, Davidson eased past Providence Thursday, 69-58. The Wildcats led by 20 at halftime and held Providence to 31 percent shooting from the field. Connor Kochera led Davidson with 22 points, while Bobby Durkin added 20. Reed Bailey added 18 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists. Those three scored 60 of the 69 points.
 
SERIES INFO
- Gonzaga leads the all-time series with Davidson, 2-1. All three meetings were on a neutral floor.
- A Steph Curry led Davidson team upset the Zags in the first round of the 2008 NCAA Tournament, 82-76, in the first meeting between the programs.
- The Bulldogs won the second meeting, 103-91, in the 2009 Battle in Seattle.
- In the latest matchup, GU won 81-67, to claim the 2012 Old Spice Invitational title in Orlando, Fla.
 
UP NEXT
- The fourth all-time meeting between Gonzaga and Kentucky looms Dec. 7 in Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena.
- Last season, the Zags won at No. 17 Kentucky, 89-85.  Graham Ike scored a team-high 23 points, while Nolan Hickman had 17 and Braden Huff added 12. Ryan Nembhard dished out nine assists.
- In 2022-23, No. 2 Gonzaga beat No. 4 Kentucky in Spokane, 88-72. Rasir Bolton scored 24 points, Drew Timme added 22, and Julian Strawther had 20 points and 14 rebounds. Anton Watson had 10 points and 10 rebounds and spent the evening guarding reigning player of the year Oscar Tshiebwe.
- In the first matchup, the Wildcats beat Gonzaga 80-72 in the 2002 Maui Invitational. Kentucky was ranked 15th and the Zags were No. 20. Blake Stepp scored a game-high 24 points with five three-pointers to lead GU.
