LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Emily Robertson advanced to tomorrow's Watanabe Classic singles championship after beating Long Beach State's Diana De Simone 7-6 (3), 6-4 in a battle on Saturday.
Two other Gonzaga women's tennis players — Rose Hayes and Safien Boulonois — fell in singles semifinal matches. Ella Nielsen and Brooke Bittner won consolation bouts, while Norhan Hesham and Savannah Johnson dropped theirs.
In consolation doubles, Robertson/Boulonois and Hayes/Nielsen each bageled Utah Tech duos with 6-0 victories, and Hesham/Bittner were outlasted 7-5 by a UNLV/Utah pairing.
During the fall season, Gonzaga women's tennis has an overall record of 20-20 in doubles and 41-45 in singles.
Up next: The Bulldogs conclude their fall schedule tomorrow at the Watanabe Classic, hosted by UNLV. Robertson will play Utah's Emma Kamper in the main draw singles championship.
