SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga women's basketball team bounced back with a 75-54 win over Pepperdine on Monday night in the McCarthey Athletic Center.
Three Bulldogs scored in double figures.
Yvonne Ejim led the Zags with 23 points as Ines Bettencourt had 14 and
Claire O'Connor had 11. O'Connor led the team in rebounds with nine as Ejim also grabbed eight.
At the end of the first half, GU held a 39-31 lead. Ejim led the team with 12 points with Bettencourt right behind her with 10. The Bulldogs had an incredible rebounding effort, grabbing 22 compared to Pepperdine's eight. O'Connor led the team with five herself.
In the first half, Gonzaga shot 48.3% from the floor and held Pepperdine to 40%. Ella Brubaker paced the Waves with 16 points.
The Zags maintained their lead for the rest of the game by outscoring the Waves in the third and fourth quarter. GU shot 51.7% in the second half and held Pepperdine to 30.8%. Ejim led the scoring efforts in the second half with 11 points after going 5-for-5 from the floor.
Overall, GU dominated the rebounding battle, 41-19. The Zags forced 15 turnovers on the night and scored 19 points off the miscues. The Bulldogs also shot 50% from the floor while Pepperdine shot 35.7%.
Notes: Ejim has scored double digits in 57-straight games. She has now scored 1,961 points in her career. This also marks the 11th time this season that she has scored 20 points or more in a game.

Bree Salenbien made her return to the court for the first time since a knee injury sustained last February. She scored five points for the Zags and went 2-for-3 from the floor.
- Ejim is now second all-time in rebounds with 938. She moved ahead of Shelby Cheslek's 932 record tonight. She needs 46 more to pass Kay Koppelman's 983 rebounds set from 1987-91.
- This was GU's 16th-straight win over Pepperdine.
