No. 15/16 WBB Hosts Senior Day Against Portland on Wednesday

THE TIPOFF
- The No. 16/15 Gonzaga women's basketball team closes out the regular season as they play Portland.
- With three games remaining, the Zags claimed the Regular Season WCC Title this year. With a win over the Pilots, GU would be undefeated in the WCC for the first time since 2010-11. 
- GU is coming off a 75-41 win over Pepperdine on the road. Brynna Maxwell scored 18 points and Yvonne Ejim added 17 with 11 rebounds for the road victory.
- Gonzaga is on a 33 home game winning streak. It ranks second in the country South Carolina (56). Gonzaga's 22-straight wins is third in the country along with their 28-2 (.933) record. Their 28 wins is the most in the country.
- GU is currently defeating conference opponents by an average of 29.4 points.
- Five Zags are averaging double digits in scoring including Yvonne Ejim (20.1), Brynna Maxwell (14.2), Kayleigh Truong (12.2), Kaylynne Truong (11.9) and Eliza  Hollingsworth (10).
- Head coach Lisa Fortier currently sits at 261-61 in her career. Among active Division I coaches, she is fifth in winning percentage at 81.1%.
- The Zags are third in the country and first in the WCC in three-point percentage at 40.3%. GU's 49% in field goals also ranks sixth. From the free throw line, GU is fifth with 79.9%.
- Kaylynne Truong is seventh in the nation and first in the conference in assists with 178 along with 15th in the country in assists per game with 5.9. She also is shooting at 44.7% from the three to rank ninth.
- Maxwell has made a three-pointer in every game this season and is sixth in the country with 83 three-pointers made this season. She sits at fifth overall with 45.1% from beyond the arc.
- Ejim is fourth in the country in field goals with 242 scored this season. Her 562 points scored this year ranks 16th in the nation. Ejim has also scored double figures for 34-straight games and has scored at least 20 points in 16 games this season. 
- Ejim is shooting at 62.9%, which ranks seventh in the country and first in the WCC. She is currently averaging 20.1 ppg, which is ranked 23rd in the nation and first in the conference.
- Yvonne Ejim has been named to the Naismith POY Watch List, Katrina McClain Top 10 Power Forward Watch list, the Wade Trophy Watch List along with the Becky Hammon Player of the Year Midseason Watch List. She has been WCC Player of the Week six times this season. She was also ESPN's Player of the Week and the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week (12/4). 
- Lisa Fortier was named to the 2024 Kathy Delaney-Smith Coach of the Year Award midseason watch list. This year's watch list includes coaches from eight conferences.
- The Bulldogs were picked to win the West Coast Conference this season by the league's coaches.
- Gonzaga has amassed a conference record of 274-34 (.889) during the last 18 seasons. 
- Last season, GU advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth-straight year under Lisa Fortier.

THE SERIES
SERIES INFO: This will be the 89th matchup between the two programs and the Zags hold a 61-28 record over the Pilots.

FIRST MEETING: In 1981, the Zags won 78-72 on the road.                    
LAST MEETING: The Bulldogs defeated Portland, 74-53, on the road in early January for its first WCC game of the year. Brynna Maxwell led the with 21 points as she went 3-for-4 from beyond the arc.    

SCOUTING THE PILOTS
- The Pilots lead the WCC in bench points per game (23.7). Portland also leads the WCC in turnover margin (2.70), free throws made per game (13.33) and free throw attempts per game (19.41)
- McKelle Meek is fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.66) and eighth in total assists (96) and eighth assists per game (3.6).
- The Pilots have won at least 17 games each of the last three years, marking the first time they've done that since a stretch between 1995-98.
- As a team, Portland leads the WCC in steals per game (11.6), turnovers forced per game (20.81), defensive field goal percentage (38.8%) and blocks per game (5.6). They rank 11th nationally in the latter, and are also 12th in steals per game and 16th in turnovers forced per game.
