WICHITA, Kan. – In their final non-conference series before West Coast Conference play, Gonzaga was unable to salvage the series finale at Wichita State as the Shockers completed the four-run comeback to wrap up a series sweep over the Bulldogs Sunday at Tyler Field. Trailing 3-0 in the sixth inning, Wichita State plated four runs across the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to escape victorious, 4-3.
 
For the second straight day, Gonzaga (3-14) left double-digit runners on base despite compiling just four hits on Sunday. The Zags put runners on in five of the nine innings, but Wichita State (13-6) pitching was able to hold GU to just one inning of production as they plated all three runs in the fourth.
 
Jordan Hamberg started on the mound and led off for Gonzaga, going 1-for-3 with a run scored and two walks. On the bump, he completed 3 2/3 innings of scoreless work, scattering three hits and three walks while striking out three. Liam Paddack entered in the fourth for Hamberg, inheriting a pair of baserunners with two outs, and was able to keep Wichita State off the board with a strikeout.
 
Paddack worked around a leadoff walk in the fifth to post another scoreless frame, but the Shockers got to him in the sixth with two runs coming across. A run in the seventh tied the score at three, and Wichita State threatened again in the eighth.
 
A two-out walk brought on Erik Hoffberg to try and keep the game tied. However, a balk moved the runner to second before a Jordan Rogers double sent him home for the eventual game-winning run.
 
Caleb Anderson earned the win for Wichita State after two innings of hitless baseball, striking out four and walking just one to shut the door on the series.
