LAKE RIDGE, Virginia -- The Gonzaga men's rowing team wrapped up competition at the Occoquan Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
"Both boats raced two hard races," head coach
Dan Gehn said. "I loved the competition we got today and it helped us with one more piece of our race puzzle. Also want to thank the Naval Academy Rowing program for the great hospitality they provided!"
In the first heat of races, GU's Varsity Eight boat took second with a time of 6:06.34 against Holy Cross and Hobart. In the 2V8 race, the Zags finished in 6:05.48 and placed second among Holy Cross and Hobart.
The Bulldogs raced again in the afternoon and took second with a time of 5:57.03 in the Varsity Eight race, ahead of Hobart, SJU and Marietta. Jacksonville placed first with a time of 5:53.65.
The 2V8 boat also competed again in the afternoon and placed second, finishing in 6:10.65, in front of Hobart, Jacksonville and Marietta. SJU took first with a time of 6:07.1.
Gonzaga returns home to compete against Washington State this Saturday, April 20, at Silver Lake.
