Zags Fall in Game Two at Pacific, 8-2

STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific took advantage of 11 Gonzaga walks to pull away for an 8-2 win and tie the series at one game apiece on Saturday at Klein Family Field. The Zags and Tigers will square off in the series rubber match on Sunday at 1pm.

Pacific (9-37, 4-13 West Coast Conference) snaps a four-game skid with the win over Gonzaga (18-25, 13-7 WCC). Tigers starter Jakob Guardado (W, 1-5) threw seven and two-thirds innings of two-run, six hit ball to earn his first win of the season.

The Tigers were on the board first in the bottom of the second, as Jake Tandy left the yard for a solo shot that was part of his 2-for-2 and three RBI day.

Gonzaga was able to respond and take a 2-1 lead in the fourth when Jordan Hamberg delivered a two-run single, but that was all that the Zags could muster offensively on Saturday.

Pacific would go on to score three in the fourth, one in the fifth, two in the seventh, and one in the eighth to take the 8-2 win.

The Bulldogs and Tigers each collected seven hits in game two, but 11 walks by GU pitching made the difference on Saturday.
