SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga and UCLA have agreed to play in each of the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons. The Zags and Bruins will square off in the new Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on Dec. 28, before meeting in Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena the following season on Dec. 13, 2025.
In an event coined the West Coast Hoops Showdown, the teams will meet at Intuit Dome for what will be the first college basketball game to be played during the highly anticipated venue's opening months. The showdown is between a pair of preseason top-20 programs – according to FOX Sports' early season Top 25 rankings, Gonzaga is No. 8 and UCLA is No. 17.
It will be the 10
th and 11
th all-time meetings between the west coast programs. GU has won seven of the previous nine matchups, including the last four. The Bruins and Bulldogs have met in each of the last four seasons, with three of those games decided by a combined 10 points.
In last season's meeting,
Anton Watson scored a career-high 32 points on nearly perfect shooting and No. 11 Gonzaga held off UCLA 69-65 in the fifth-place game at the Maui Invitational. The Bulldogs led by 13 in the first half before staving off a late charge from the Bruins.
The Zags have won the last three NCAA Tournament matchups against UCLA, including an unforgettable 93-90 win in overtime in the national semifinal in Indianapolis in 2021. Jalen Suggs hit the game-winner as time expired from near half-court. In the Sweet 16 in 2023, Julian Strawther hit a three-pointer with 7.2 seconds left in regulation to give Gonzaga the 79-76 win.
Gonzaga won the first all-time between the programs, 59-43, at UCLA on Dec. 11, 1999.
