LA JOLLA, Calif. – Gonzaga volleyball was unable to keep pace with Northern Arizona at the UC San Diego Invitational on Saturday inside LionTree Arena. After a back-and-forth first set went the way of NAU, the Zags could not respond as the Lumberjacks went on to win 3-0.
 
Northern Arizona (2-1) took a quick 3-0 lead in the first, but Maggie Rickert battled Gonzaga (1-1) back within a point to kick off the back-and-forth affair. The Zags would take a two-point lead late in the set, but NAU's Taylor Jacobsen caught fire with eight total kills to pull out a 25-22 win for the Lumberjacks. Rickert finished with six kills in the set, while Raechelle Dykstra recorded eight digs.
 
Using their momentum from the first-set win, Northern Arizona continued to roll in sets two and three. Hannah Stoddard added seven kills for the Lumberjacks in their 25-16 win in set two while adding six digs. Despite efforts from GU's defense to thwart NAU's attack, the match would not go more than three sets as Northern Arizona made quick work for a 25-12 win in set three to pull out the 3-0 sweep.
 
Dykstra collected a career-high 20 digs in Saturday's match while Nia Damuni picked up her first double-double of the season with 17 assists and ten digs.
