HANOVER, New Hampshire – The Gonzaga women's tennis team began their 2024-25 campaign today at the Fall Foliage Fest, earning a 2-1 record in doubles competition and a 2-4 record in singles matches.
Hosted by Dartmouth College, the second annual Fall Foliage Fest — from Sep. 27-29 — includes invited teams from the University of Connecticut and Boston College, who Gonzaga competed against on Friday.
While down 4-1 in the first doubles match, Emily Robertson/Ella Nielsen withdrew due to an injury, keeping Robertson out of the following singles competition today.
The Bulldogs were victorious in their other two doubles matches, with Rose Hayes/Safien Boulonois triumphing 7-5 and Brooke Bittner/Lia Espinal dominating 6-1.
In singles competition, Boulonois overcame her opponent 6-4, 6-4 and Espinal won 7-5, 6-1. Hayes (6-3, 6-1), Nielsen (6-4, 6-0), and Savannah Johnson (6-1, 6-1) dropped their matches, while Bittner fought a three-set battle, but fell 6-3, 4-6, 10-5.
