HANOVER, New Hampshire – The Gonzaga women's tennis team concluded the Fall Foliage Fest today with competition against the University of Connecticut.
In singles matches, the Bulldogs earned an impressive 4-2 record, including straight-set wins by Rose Hayes (6-3, 6-2), Safien Boulonois (6-0, 7-5), and Ella Nielsen (7-6, 6-1). Brooke Bittner was pushed to an exciting third set before triumphing 6-1, 2-6, 10-8.
Savannah Johnson dropped her first singles set 6-0, then battled back to force a second-set tiebreaker, but did not prevail. Lia Espinal endured a three-set thriller before falling in the final frame 12-10.
On Saturday, Gonzaga played UConn in doubles, dropping all three matches.
Up next: The Bulldogs will compete in the ITA Regional Championships from Oct. 11 to 15 in Moraga/Berkeley, CA.
