CHICAGO, Ill. – In the first-ever meeting between the programs, Gonzaga women's soccer shutout Illinois-Chicago Sunday, 3-0.
Paige Alexander scored a goal and had an assist for the Bulldogs (3-2-1). She finished with a match-high five shots. GU outshot the Flames 15-5, with a 4-3 edge in shots on goal. UIC (1-6-0) had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Emily Todd found the back of the net in the 20
th minute for the Zags. Her first career goal came off Alexander's fourth career assist. Alexander then scored in the 71
st minute, with an assist to
Lauren Chin. Ten minutes later,
Alexis Parker completed the scoring and
Kylie Jones was credited with the assist.
Lauren Towne made three saves in the Gonzaga net. Lauren Keister had one save for UIC.
The Zags are home for three straight matches beginning Thursday against New Mexico State (4-3-1) at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast on ESPN Plus with live stats on GoZags.com.
