Men’s Tennis Sweeps EWU

Zags win both duals 4-0 over Eagles

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University men's tennis began the Spring 2025 dual-match season with a pair of 4-0 victories over Eastern Washington on Saturday at the Stevens Center.

In the morning dual, the Bulldogs claimed the doubles point by winning two of three matches. Giovanni Branchetti/Jay Fairclough cruised to a 6-1 result, while Gus Krauel/Nicholas Reeves outlasted the Eagles 7-5. Reeves, Tom Dunlop, and Diego Herrera each won singles in straight sets, with Herrera surviving a first-frame tiebreaker.

The afternoon dual began after a short break, with Gonzaga dominating a pair of doubles bouts. Branchetti/Fairclough — GU's No. 1 pairing — won 6-2, while Kai-Luca Ampaw/Herrera claimed victory by the same score. Ampaw notched the first singles point as his opponent retired, then Reeves and Krauel both triumphed in two quick sets.

Up next: The Bulldogs will travel to the west side of the state next weekend, facing Seattle U on Saturday, Jan. 25 and UW on Sunday.
