Men’s Tennis Drops Dual to UW, 7-0

Zags (3-1) host Montana State and Nevada next weekend

SEATTLE, Wash. – Gonzaga men's tennis fell 7-0 to Washington on Sunday at Nordstrom Tennis Center, the Zags' first defeat of the dual season.

The Huskies clinched the doubles point as Giovanni Branchetti/Jay Fairclough and Diego Herrera/Tom Dunlop dropped matches.

In singles, Branchetti, Dunlop, and Nicholas Reeves came up short in two sets to secure the dual for UW. The teams continued playing, with Fairclough getting bested 6-4, 6-4.

The final two singles matches went to three sets, as Kai-Luca Ampaw and Oscar Rashed each won their first frames, dropped second sets 6-3, and fell in super tiebreakers. Ampaw's final frame was 10-4, while Rashed was outlasted 10-5.

UP NEXT: The Bulldogs host Montana State (Jan. 31 at 3 p.m.) and Nevada (Feb. 2 at 10 a.m.) at the Stevens Center. Live stats and video will be available at GoZags.com for those unable to attend.
