TULSA, Okla. - Gonzaga women's tennis opened play at the Tulsa Invitational on Friday with a full slate of singles and doubles action.
The Bulldogs earned four singles victories on the day. Emily Robertson defeated Arkansas State's Cvanciger in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5. Elizabeth Tindera rolled past Arkansas State's Muro 6-2, 6-2, while Brooke Bittner defeating Oral Roberts, 6-3, 6-3. Ella Nielsen had a three set battle to take the win over Tulsa, 7-5, 1-6, 7-5.
Several other Zags turned in competitive efforts on the day. Diana Yanotovskaya had a three set battle but came up just short against Arkansas State, 6-3, 5-7, 1-6. Sveva Zerpelloni played Arkansas State and fell 6-0, 7-5. Karla Brown also had a tough three set match but fell 3-6, 6-4, 3-6, to Tulsa. Madeline MacNeille also played three sets against Tulsa and came up short, 7-5, 3-6, 0-6.
In doubles play, Robertson and Tindera teamed up for a 6-2 win over Arkansas State. Nielsen and Grigoreva fell 6-2 against Arkansas State, while Brown and Zerpelloni also fell 6-3 against Tulsa.
Gonzaga continues tournament play on Saturday with another round of singles and doubles.
