TULSA, Okla. – Gonzaga women's tennis capped off its second day of fall action in Oklahoma with several strong performances against Tulsa and Oral Roberts on Saturday.
In doubles play, the Zags split four competitive matches. The pair of Emily Robertson and Elizabeth Tindera battled to a 7-5 win over Tulsa, while Karla Brown and Brooke Bittner also came away victorious with a convincing 6-2 result. The other two Bulldog tandems, Ella Nielsen and Sveva Zerpelloni (5-6) and Diana Yanotovskaya and Madeleine MacNeille (3-6), fell in tight matches against the Golden Hurricane.
Gonzaga carried that momentum into singles competition, highlighted by three strong wins. Emily Robertson posted a gritty 6-3, 7-6(1) victory over Tulsa, while Brooke Bittner cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win. Madeleine MacNeille added another straight-set triumph, taking down an Oral Roberts opponent 6-4, 6-4.
Despite competitive efforts, Yanotovskaya, Tindera, Nielsen, and Brown each dropped their singles matches to Tulsa opponents in straight sets, including a tight 7-6(4) second set from Brown.
The Zags continue their fall tournament slate Sunday in Tulsa with additional singles and doubles play.
