Zag Running signs Sloan Dickson

Dickson signs with the Zags less than a week after winning the Washington 2A state title in Cross Country. Dickson ran a time of 17:48.6 to capture the state championship, securing the first ever state victory for her high school. Dickson also captured second in the state championship last year, an impressive showing in what was her first full season in cross country.

Dickson set five separate school record times during her Track & Field career at Lynden. She set new records for the Lions in the 800, 1500, 1600 and 3200 meters, while also anchoring a school record 4 x 400 relay team. Dickson ran a 2:12.9 time in the 800 and was the first runner in Lynden history to break 5 minutes in the 1600 meters when she ran a 4:54.1 time at the 2A State Championships and the first runner in school history to break an 11 minute barrier in the 3200 meters, running a time of 10:39.1 last spring.

Coach Stewart is excited for Dickson to make the move to Spokane, stating that "we've emphasized making Gonzaga a place where the best seniors in the State of Washington can come and get better. Sloan is a continuation of that emphasis. Her range is awesome, having had her best cross country season to date this fall and winning the 2A State Championship with one of the fastest times on the course that day. When stepping on the track, her versatility from the 800 to the 3200 reinforces our belief in how high Sloan's ceiling is."
