SEATTLE, Wash. – Just five Gonzaga men's track athletes traveled to Washington's Dempsey Indoor Facility for the UW Invitational this weekend. At the conclusion of the 3000-meter heats Friday evening, four of those Bulldog runners came away with program top ten times.
The GU men returned to Dempsey for the second time in three weeks on Friday, racing in their first of two slated events on the weekend.
Logan Law,
Mason Kissell,
Jacob Alfonso,
Drew Kolodge, and
Cooper Laird suited up for the Zags in the 3000-meters hoping to continue to build momentum early in the 2024-25 indoor track season.
Racing in succession in the fourth of six heats; Law, Kissell, Alfonso, and Kolodge finished in second-through-fifth place with new personal record times, followed closely by Laird in 14th (8:18.05) who narrowly missed a PR of his own.
Among the Gonzaga indoor 3000m records, Law's 8:06.33 was a 0.20-second PR, solidifying his already-owned No. 6 all-time record at GU. Kissell finished right behind Law in 8:07.03, snagging spot No. 7 while Alfonso's 8:07.36 moved him into No. 8 and Kolodge's 8:08.98 moved him into No. 10 all-time. For the latter three, each of their times on Friday were the first below eight minutes and ten seconds on the collegiate oval.
