MTEN Drops to Loyola Marymount, 4-0

Zags (9-8, 1-3) host two WCC opponents next weekend

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga men's tennis (9-8 overall, 1-3 WCC) was defeated 4-0 by Loyola Marymount on Sunday at the Stevens Center, in a tighter dual than the final score indicates.

Jay Fairclough/Nicholas Reeves continued their doubles hot streak, improving to 8-0 when paired up this Spring. The Lions (6-13 overall, 1-5 WCC), however, claimed the doubles point by outlasting Tom Dunlop/Gus Krauel (6-3) and Giovanni Branchetti/Kai-Luca Ampaw (6-4).

Branchetti/Ampaw faced Sebastian Nothhaft/Youssef Sadek, who were No. 50 on ITA's April 1 doubles rankings.

In singles, LMU withstood Oscar Rashed (6-3, 6-3), Branchetti (1-6, 6-0, 6-1), and Ampaw (7-6 (4), 6-3) to clinch the overall match. The dual ended with Reeves and Fairclough in their third sets, and Dunlop about to begin his final frame.

UP NEXT: The Bulldogs continue WCC play with home duals against No. 20 Pepperdine next Saturday (April 12) and against No. 7 San Diego on Sunday (April 13). MATCH NOTES
- The Bulldogs are 9-8 overall and 1-3 in WCC play this spring season, with wins against Eastern Washington (twice), Seattle (twice), Montana State, No. 69 Montana, UC San Diego, SDSU, and Portland.
- The Zags have dropped three straight after winning five out of six matches.
- LMU is now 6-13 overall and 1-5 in WCC play, picking up their first conference victory.
- The Lions reached as high as No. 72 in ITA's team rankings this season, after defeating No. 43 Yale and No. 62 Dartmouth in March.

- Gonzaga is 23-22 overall in doubles matches this spring.
- Fairclough leads the Bulldogs in overall doubles wins (14-2), followed by Reeves (10-1) and Branchetti (10-6).
- Fairclough/Reeves won their eighth straight doubles match, improving to 8-0 when paired up this Spring.

- The Zags are 45-40 in singles matches this season.
- Fairclough (9-3) and Ampaw (9-7) lead GU in singles wins, followed by Dunlop (7-6) and Rashed (6-5).
