LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Gonzaga women's tennis fell 4-1 in a dual against Loyola Marymount on Sunday at the LMU Tennis Center.
The Lions (6-10 overall, 4-2 WCC) claimed the doubles point by defeating
Rose Hayes/
Lia Espinal (6-1) and
Emily Robertson/
Ella Nielsen (6-3). Robertson/Nielsen were No. 88 on ITA's April 1 rankings, while their opponents — Anastasia Bozova/Stefania Rogozinska-Dzik — were ranked No. 49.
When the dual moved to singles,
Norhan Hesham/
Safien Boulonois led 5-4.
The Bulldogs (9-8 overall, 2-2 WCC) notched a point with Hesham's dominant 6-2, 6-1 singles victory. LMU, however, prevailed over Nielsen (6-2, 6-2), Robertson (6-1, 6-4), and Hayes (6-3, 6-3) to clinch the overall match.
The dual ended with Boulonois in her third set and Espinal in her second.

The Bulldogs close out the WCC regular season with a home match against Santa Clara on Friday (April 18) and a road dual against Portland on Saturday (April 19). On April 18, the Zags will recognize

- GU women's tennis is now 9-8 overall and 2-2 in WCC play this dual season, with wins over Michigan State, Eastern Washington, New Mexico State, New Mexico, Air Force, Montana, Seattle, Saint Mary's, and Pacific.
- LMU is now 6-10 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
- Yesterday, the Lions defeated No. 59 Washington State, which entered the match 3-0 in conference play.

- Robertson/Nielsen were one of five West Coast Conference doubles teams to appear on ITA's April 1 top 90, including their LMU opponents on Sunday — Anastasia Bozova/Stefania Rogozinska-Dzik, who have been ranked all season and entered today's match at No. 49.
- The Zags are 24-17 overall in doubles matches.
