SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's soccer announced its 2025 season schedule, featuring a competitive slate that includes 11 home games, with six at Luger Field before starting a demanding West Coast Conference stretch.
The Zags will face foes from six conferences outside the WCC, including teams from the Big 12 and Big Ten. Eight opponents finished 2024 with winning records and four advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
The Zags will kick off the season with an exhibition match at Idaho on Aug. 4 in Moscow, Idaho. The regular season officially opens on Aug. 14 with a home game against Utah. The Utes scored a late goal to escape with a 2-1 win over Gonzaga in last season's opener in Salt Lake City.
The non-conference portion continues with home matchups against Simon Fraser (Aug. 24), Illinois Chicago (Aug. 28), Washington (Aug. 31), and Air Force (Sept. 4). GU shutout UIC last season in Chicago, 3-0, in the first-ever matchup between the programs. The Zags meet Washington for the first time since a 2-2 draw in Spokane in 2015.
The Bulldogs will then hit the road for a four-game stretch, facing Utah Valley (Sept. 8), TCU (Sept. 12), and Montana (Sept. 18). Utah Valley won 12 games last season and went unbeaten in WAC play. Texas Christian and Gonzaga meet for the first time. The Horned Frogs advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2024.
West Coast Conference play begins Sept. 24 on the road at Saint Mary's. Gonzaga will host five conference games in Spokane, welcoming San Diego (Sept. 27), San Francisco on Alumni Weekend (Oct. 4), Loyola Marymount (Oct. 8), Santa Clara (Oct. 22), and first-time WCC member Seattle (Oct. 25). Additional conference road games include visits to Pepperdine (Oct. 11), Washington State (Oct. 18), Portland (Oct. 31), Pacific (Nov. 5), and concludes with Oregon State on Nov. 8 in Spokane.
"We're thrilled about the 2025 schedule," Gonzaga head coach
Katie Benz said. "It's a strong mix of top-tier opponents and exciting conference matchups. We're looking forward to seeing our fans at Luger Field and building on last season's success."
Last season, Gonzaga placed third in the final West Coast Conference standings, winning its last three contests. The Zags ended the regular season winning five out of their last six. GU was unbeaten in six of its last seven, with the lone loss at then-ranked No. 10 Santa Clara, 2-1.
The Bulldogs clinched their seventh 10-win season over the last eight seasons, with the exception being seven wins in the Spring 2020 shortened season that totaled only 11 games.
