Bulldogs Fall to Washington, 1-0

Fourteen total shots in defensive battle

SPOKANE, Wash. – Washington shut out Gonzaga women's soccer on the road at Luger Field Sunday, 1-0.
 
On a hot day where temperatures creeped into the 90s, the Huskies (3-0-3) remained unbeaten in a defensive battle with GU. The game featured only 14 shots, with UW taking 10. Washington finished with four shots on goal, while the Zags (2-2-0) had one. The Huskies took six corner kicks to Gonzaga's four.
 
Washington had 55 percent of the possession in the match, with 60 percent of that possession on the attacking side of the field.
 
In the seventh minute of the match, Washington's Jadyn Holdenried found the back of the net for the fourth time this season for the lone score. Alex Buck slid a pass through the GU defense for her third assist of the year.
 
The Huskies forced Michaela McCollum into three saves in the Bulldog net, while Tanner Ijams had one for UW.
 
Gonzaga wraps up its five-match home stand to open the season with Air Force (0-3-1) on Thursday at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus, with live stats on GoZags.com.
