SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga University (2-2-1, 0-0-0) secured a 2-0 victory over Oregon Institute of Technology (0-1-1, 0-0-0) on Friday at Luger Field, with both goals coming in the second half.
The first half featured a series of offensive attempts by Gonzaga University, highlighted by
Ian Silva's early shot attempt in the 17th minute that was saved. The Bulldogs maintained pressure with multiple corner kicks, notably after shots by
Drew Pedersen and
Morgan Olson, but Oregon Tech's goalkeeper Harvey Bolland was consistently on point with his saves. Despite Gonzaga's persistent offensive efforts, including a corner kick as the period wound down, the score remained level at 0-0 going into halftime.
The second half began with the Bulldogs asserting dominance early on, as
Robbie Mora scored in the 51st minute with an assist from Pedersen, giving the home team a 1-0 lead. Shortly after,
Geremi Onentia doubled the advantage in the 57th minute, further extending Gonzaga's lead to 2-0. Despite multiple shot attempts from the Owls, Gonzaga maintained control throughout the period, sustaining their defensive efforts to secure a 2-0 victory.
Onentia scored a goal and recorded two shots on goal for Gonzaga. Mora found the back of the net with the game-winning goal, taking two shots on goal. Pedersen contributed with an assist and took three shots, one of which was on target. In goal,
Chema Preciado played 80 minutes, making one save and keeping a clean sheet.
Gonzaga's season record stood at 2-2-1 following the victory over Oregon Tech. The Owls dropped to 0-1-1 overall after the loss.
The Zags hit the road next week to play Washington on Tuesday.
