Montana Defeats Women’s Soccer, 4-0

Zags close non-conference slate with setback

MISSOULA, Mont. – Montana secured a 4-0 victory over Gonzaga women's soccer Thursday at South Campus Stadium, with the home team netting two goals in each half.
 
The Grizzlies outshot the Bulldogs, 18-8, with both teams finishing with six shots on frame. Montana (5-2-1) had a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
 
The first half began with Gonzaga creating early opportunities, as they earned two corner kicks within the first two minutes. Despite a strong start, the visitors found themselves trailing in the 17th minute after Montana's Chloe Seelhoff scored the opening goal, assisted by Lucie Rokos. Montana extended their lead in the 36th minute with a goal from Maddie Ditta, assisted by Emma Widmor. It was Seelhoff's sixth goal of the season and Ditta's fifth.
 
The second half started with a strong effort from GU (2-6-0), as Katelyn Rigg tested Montana's goalkeeper with a shot in the 46th minute, only to be denied by Ashlyn Dvorak's save. Despite continued efforts, including shots by Taylor Gentry and Samantha Snorsky, the Bulldogs could not find the back of the net. Montana capitalized on their opportunities with Lydia Robertson scoring in the 69th minute and a goal in the 87th minute.
 
Michaela McCollum recorded three saves during her 90 minutes in goal. Rigg led the team with two shots on goal from her two total shots. Erin Ewers managed one shot on goal from her single attempt. Snorsky contributed with two shots, one of which was on target. Dvorak was instrumental in the Grizzlies' net, recording six saves.
 
Gonzaga opens West Coast Conference play at Saint Mary's (5-1-1) Wednesday at 4 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus with live stats on GoZags.com.
