SAN BRUNO, Calif.- Gonzaga freshman right handed pitcher
Landon Hood picked up the first WCC Freshman of the Week award after collecting a win in his first collegiate appearance.
Hood, last year's Gatorade High School State Player of the Year out of Goodyear, Arizona, impressed in his debut. He allowed only two baserunners in 6.1 innings of work, posting just a 0.23 WHIP. Hood did not allow a run in his entire outing against Hawaii en route to collecting his first win. He threw eight strikeouts and retired 12 UH batters in a row in the sixth through tenth innings. Hood looked incredibly promising in his first outing for GU, and is expected to continue to be a huge contributor as the season goes on, already collecting a conference award just one game into his career.
