Lauren Whittaker Earns WCC Freshman of the Week

This is Whittaker's 10th freshman honor

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – For the seventh consecutive week and 10th time overall, Whittaker has been recognized by the conference as the Freshman of the Week. 
 
WEST COAST CONFERENCE CO-FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – LAUREN WHITTAKER, F – GONZAGA
For the seventh straight week and 10th time this season, Lauren Whittaker (Canterbury, New Zealand) has been recognized as the Freshman of the Week. She has collected 11 total weekly honors, as the forward was named West Coast Conference Player of the Week once as well. Whittaker averaged 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in guiding Gonzaga to road wins over San Francisco and Washington State. With the two wins, Gonzaga is second in the conference standings at 8-2, a game behind Oregon State. She came through with clutch shots in the 74-66 overtime win at San Francisco last Thursday. Her most important bucket came with four seconds remaining in regulation as the freshman tied the game at 62-62 to send it to overtime. Whittaker had 15 of her game-high 17 points in the second half and overtime to lead the Zags to the victory over the Dons. She also added nine rebounds in the contest. Whittaker registered 18 points and eight rebounds in Saturday's win at Washington State. 
 
Whittaker leads the West Coast Conference in scoring (19.9 ppg), rebounding (10.2 rpg) and field goal percentage (.553).
