OVERLAND PARK, Kansas – Landon Hood was named to the College Baseball Foundation's Watchlist for National Pitcher of the Year on Wednesday morning.
Hood is one of only seven statistcally qualified pitchers in Divison 1 baseball with a 0.00 ERA. He currently holds a 5 to 1 strikeout to walk ratio, with 25 strikeouts on the season while only giving up five walks. He currently has a .094 batting average against, and he has still not allowed a run this season across 16.1 innings pitched.
The freshman right handed pitcher currently ranks fourth in the nation in hits allowed per nine innings with only 2.76. He has just a 0.61 WHIP, currently the twelfth lowest in Division 1. Additionally, he ranks 33rd in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings with 13.78. Hood has already been named the WCC Freshman of the Week three times this season.
