SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's tennis head coach Natalie Pluskota-Hamberg announced the addition of transfer student-athlete Sia Cariov, who arrives in Spokane after two successful seasons at the College of Charleston. A native of Delray Beach, Florida, Cariov will join the Bulldogs as an incoming junior and pursue a degree in psychology.
"We're excited to welcome Sia Cariov to the Zag family," Pluskota-Hamberg said. "Sia is a dynamic player whose determination, resilience, and competitive drive set her apart. She brings a high level of intensity to everything she does, along with a strong commitment to continuous improvement. Beyond her talent on the court, Sia's positive attitude and team-first mentality make her a perfect fit for our program. We're confident she will make an immediate impact and play an important role in the future success of Gonzaga Tennis."
"I'm so excited for the opportunity to represent Gonzaga and be able to call myself a Zag," Cariov said. "The community is overwhelmingly supportive and I can't wait for all of the experiences and opportunities to come!"
Cariov comes to Gonzaga following a standout sophomore campaign in 2025-26 in which she earned All-CAA First Team honors in both singles and doubles. Competing primarily at the No. 1 singles position, she collected 14 victories and posted a 7-2 record against conference opponents. She also recorded 13 doubles wins, including 12 alongside partner Francesca Salvato on court one. Her accomplishments earned her CSC Academic All-District honors, CAA Player of the Week recognition on April 14, 2026, and CAA Doubles Team of the Week accolades on March 10, 2026.
As a freshman in 2024-25, Cariov made an immediate impact for the Cougars. She earned All-CAA First Team Doubles recognition after tallying 12 doubles victories while competing primarily at the No. 1 doubles position. In singles play, she posted 16 wins, primarily from the No. 4 spot in the lineup. Her success extended beyond the court as she was named to the President's List.
Prior to her collegiate career, Cariov was a four-star recruit who reached as high as No. 102 nationally in her recruiting class. Tennis runs deep in her family, as her father, Jevgenij, is a member of the DePaul Tennis Hall of Fame and holds an ATP point, while her brother, Teo, competed collegiately at Presbyterian and The Citadel.
Cariov will join the Bulldogs for the 2026-27 season.
