Evan Wells

Evan Wells enters his first season as director of player development and his seventh season with the Bulldogs in 2025, having joined Gonzaga ahead of the 2019 season after a stint as an assistant coach at Longwood University. Wells brings with him seven years of collegiate coaching experience, previously coaching at Dartmouth College, Creighton, the University of Washington, and Whitworth.   While at Dartmouth, Wells assisted the Big Green to a division championship in three of his five seasons, working primarily with infielders and hitters. Dartmouth led the league in fielding percentage four of Wells’ five years as an assistant and finished second in 2016 with a .972 percentage. In 2012 Dartmouth set a school record with 32 wins and posted a .979 fielding percentage.    Before heading to Dartmouth, Wells worked as a volunteer assistant at Creighton University, and was an assistant at the University of Washington in the 2011 season. In his time at Washington, Wells assisted with camps, recruiting, and defensive drills for all position groups.   As the assistant coach at Whitworth University, Wells was the infield and hitting coach, assisting with the recruitment of student-athletes.   A native of Olympia, Wash., Wells graduated summa cum laude from Gonzaga University in 2009 with a degree in journalism. A three-year starter at second base and lead-off hitter, Wells finished his career with a .310 batting average and helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2009 NCAA Regionals. A left-handed hitting infielder, Wells began his collegiate career at Lassen Community College, where he hit .307 in one season and was named first team all-conference.

Wells is married to Ashley Lammers and they have two sons, Dean and Reid.
