Prior to Gonzaga
While at La Salle, O'Brien earned four First Team All-Northwest Oregon Conference nods, as well as conference Player of the Year once. A captain in his last two seasons, O'Brien also earned First Team All-State. A multisport athlete in soccer, O'Brien won the state championship on the pitch as well. In his latest summer season, he recorded 29 IP while allowing just one earned run on 18 hits and 49 strikeouts, posting a .165 BAA.
