Gonzaga University Athletics

2021: Started all 52 games for the Bulldogs in left field, one of only four GU position players to do so that year… Hit two homers for a team-high six RBI in a win over Dallas Baptist (2/27)... Finished with nine multi-hit games and scored 44 runs to go with 23 batted in… 10 extra base hits on the year.

2020: Started 15 games and played in all 16 on the year...hit .259 and was third on the team with 10 RBI...Scored eight times and had four extra-base hits with two doubles, one triple and one homer...Had four multi-hit games, including a two-hit, three-run game at South Alabama.

2019: Appeared in 18 games, starting 5...posted a slash line of .188/.219/.278...on six hits, recorded 5 RBIs and one run...finished the season with four putouts and one assist. 

2018: Made his collegiate debut in Gonzaga’s 5-2 win at Pacific on April 14…appeared in 11 total games for the Zags, starting nine…hit .222 on the season for six hits and two runs …added two RBIs on the season, one in GU’s 5-3 win over Santa Clara on May 18, and another against UCLA in the NCAA Minneapolis Regional.

2017: Redshirted true freshman season...did not play.

Gonzaga Prep High School: Played four years for the Bullpups, splitting time between first base and the outfield...hit .519 with three home runs as a senior...First Team All-GSL and First Team All-State as a senior... won team's Leadership Award...also played football for four years, earning two All-GSL honors and All-State Honorable Mention as a senior.

Personal: Parents are Sheila and head coach Mark Machtolf...has two brothers named Steven and David...had five relatives play collegiate football, including father Mark and grandfather Tom, who also played professionally for the LA Rams...father and brothers also played collegiate baseball, Mark at Stanford and brothers at Gonzaga...majoring in education and wants to be a high school teacher and football coach after graduation...chose Gonzaga because it is close to home and he loves the atmosphere...enjoys being outdoors.
