Katie Hinrichs was hired on Aug. 5, 2019 as assistant coach at Gonzaga. She also acts as the recruiting coordinator for the Zags.
Hinrichs arrived at Gonzaga following two seasons at Montana State; one as an assistant coach and the second season as associate head coach. The Pullman, Wash., native was integral in the success the program experienced during the 2017 and 2018 seasons, including the Bobcats first back-to-back double-digit win seasons since 2004-05. In addition, she also helped MSU return to the Big Sky Conference tournament for the first time since the 2012 season.
In addition to the numerous firsts for the program during Hinrichs time on staff, several individual accolades were also awarded to the program. Both Evi Wilson (Offensive) and Allyssa Rizzo (Defensive) swept the Big Sky Conference weekly accolades for the first time in program history. Hinrichs also worked closely with the Bobcats’ middle blockers and oversaw the development of freshman middle blocker, Kelsie White. White broke the MSU volleyball single-match block assists record with 14.
Prior to her time at Montana State, Hinrichs worked on the Washington State volleyball staff. She was responsible for all team travel and meals, overseeing video and statistical analysis, managing scout team, academics, professional development, community service and summer camps.
Hinrichs played collegiately at Lewis-Clark State College, helping the Warriors to a 112-24 mark during her tenure in Lewiston, Idaho. LC State won four regular-season and post-season Frontier Conference titles and advanced to the national NAIA Championship Tournament all four years. Hinrichs, a three-year team captain, had school-record performances including digs in a single match with 41, single-season digs (561 in 2010) and her 1,585 career digs is second-best all-time at LCSC.
Hinrichs was a four-time Frontier Conference All-Academic selection. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lewis-Clark State in 2011.
