Stiles Drafted In 9th Round By Women's Soccer League

SPOKANE, Wash. - Former Gonzaga University women's soccer assistant coach Kim Stiles was selected in the ninth round of the inaugural Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) draft Sunday by the Boston Breakers.

Stiles, an assistant coach for the Bulldogs the past two seasons, was the 70th pick overall. Sun Wen, a member of five Asian Women's Championship teams, was the first pick overall by the Atlanta Beat. The 27-year-old won a silver medal in both the 1996 Olympic Games and in the 1999 Women's World Cup. She will come to the WUSA from her club team Shanghai.

Stiles, a native of Spokane, has attended two U.S. National Team training camps. A 1999 University of Portland graduate, she was an All-West Coast Conference selection in 1997 and '98. The Mead High graduate played in three national championship semifinals and one national championship game for the Pilots.
