BOISE, IDA. - Brittany Zoellner scored four goals Sunday afternoon to lead host Boise State to a 5-1 victory over Gonzaga at the Simplot Sports Complex, as the Zags wrapped up their two-game swing through Southern Idaho with an 0-2 mark.
Zoellner scored her first tally just three minutes into the game hitting on a shot from 17-yards out on the right side. Midfielder Abba Roche assisted on the goal at 2:53. Zoellner added what would prove to be the gamewinner for the Broncos during the 23rd minute, this time connecting from 17-yards out on the left side. Dayle McNabb assisted on the goal.
Gonzaga battled back as the first-half drew to a close when freshman Walker Loseno scored her fifth goal of the season during the 35th minute. Megan Black assisted on the goal to move her team lead in the category to four.
Boise State increased its lead during the 57th minute as Kaziah Hill scored the Broncos third goal. Brittany Zoellner collected the hat-trick for Boise State two-minutes later to chase Gonzaga freshman goalkeeper Tara Curtis from the game. Zoellner's final score of the day came at the 85:15 mark as she flicked home a pass from Kaziah Hill.
Gonzaga drops to 2-5-0 on the season and will return to action on Tuesday afternoon when the Zags host a win-less Portland State team at 2:00 p.m. Boise State improved to 2-3-1 on the year and avenged last year's loss to Gonzaga in Spokane.
