Women's Volleyball Is Swept By Montana; Again

MISSOULA, Mont. - For the second time in four days the University of Montana swept Gonzaga University 15-10, 15-5, 15-12 in Tuesday night volleyball action.

Gonzaga (4-7) jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in Game 1 before Montana (8-5) recovered to score 11 of the next 13 points on its way to victory.

In Game 2 the Grizzlies started out hot taking an 8-0 advantage behind a .400 attack percentage before cruising to a 15-5 win.

Game 3 went back-and-forth before a Teresa Stringer kill gave the Griz a sideout with a 13-12 lead. A GU hitting error raised the score to 14-12 before junior Joy Pierce ended the match with a service ace.

Britt Whiting's 12 kills and 10 digs paced the Bulldogs and freshman Heather Signor contributed 13 digs. Senior Erin Adams led Montana with 12 kills and a match-high 17 digs. Setter Tara Connor added 41 assists and 10 digs for the Grizzlies.

Gonzaga had an attack percentage of just .044 while Montana finished the match with a .230 hitting percentage.

The Bulldogs return to the court on Friday when they host non-conference rival University of Idaho. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
