MALIBU, Calif. - Three Pepperdine players reached double-digit kills Saturday night as the No. 12 Waves (15-3, 9-0 WCC) cruised to a West Coast Conference victory over Gonzaga (7-13, 3-6 WCC) at Firestone Fieldhouse. Pepperdine won the contest in three games, 30-21, 30-20, 30-24.
For the second time this season Pepperdine compiled a team hitting percentage over .300 against Gonzaga as the Waves easily downed the Zags. Brie Harris had 13 kills with a .429 hitting percentage while Melissa Snow had 10 kills and a .529 attack percentage for Pepperdine. Katie Wilkins led all players with 17 kills in the win.
Natasha Kozen led Gonzaga with nine kills as the Zags were held without a double-digit attacker for the second time this season. Gonzaga was limited to a .096 team attack percentage including a negative attacking game during Pepperdine's 30-20 game two victory. Katerina Chroustovska was the top Zags defensive player finishing with a team high nine digs. The Zags were able to stay in the contest thanks to their play at the net which resulted in 13 blocks. Kozen was the high Zags player with five block assists.
Melissa Snow led all players with 14 digs and Brie Harris tallied three service aces in the win. Katerina Chroustovska recorded Gonzaga's lone service ace as the Zags were limited to only one ace in their two match trip to the Los Angeles area. Gonzaga returns to action on Tuesday night with a match against cross town rival Eastern Washington.
