SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference announced the women's soccer All-Conference team this afternoon with Gonzaga University's Claire Whitfield garnering Honorable Mention accolades.

Santa Clara's Aly Wagner was named the WCC Player of the Year while teammate Danielle Slaton earned Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Portland's Christine Sinclair was named WCC Freshman of the Year.

Saint Mary's Paul Ratcliffe and SCU's Jerry Smith shared the WCC Coach of the Year award as voted by the league coaches.

The Broncos and the Pilots each landed eight award winners on the first team, second team and honorable mention lists.

This is the second consecutive year that Whitfield has been recognized by the WCC, the Washington native was named to the second-team All-Conference team as a sophomore.

Whitfield switched between the forward and midfield positions during the 2001 season combining for six shots and four shots on goal. The Bulldogs finished the season 0-15-2, 0-7-0.
