Volleyball Hires New Assistant Coach

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University has announced the hiring of Greg Poitras as the new assistant coach with the Bulldogs volleyball team.

Poitras comes to Gonzaga after working last season as the top assistant at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Poitras helped guide the Rajin' Cajuns to their best finish in the Sun Belt Conference compiling a 17-14 record overall and 11-5 record in the Sun Belt. The team finished the season second in the Sun Belt's West Division advancing to the tournament semifinals.

Prior to coaching at ULL, Poitras worked four seasons as a student assistant coach at the University of British Columbia. During his four seasons at UBC, he helped guide the program to two CIAU titles and a 81-21 overall record. Poitras has also actively worked with many summer league and club volleyball teams including a stint at the head coach of the Southern Spikers Volleyball Club, a U-19 girls club in Lafayette.

A four-year letterwinner at UBC, Poitras earned his bachelor of arts degree in human kinetics in 2000. He currently holds a National Coaches Certification earned in 1998.
