EUGENE, Ore. - Freshman forward Heidi Jacobson scored her first collegiate career goal as the Gonzaga University women's soccer (1-2-0) team snapped a 28-match losing streak Friday night defeating the University of Oregon Ducks 1-0 (0-3-0) in non-conference action.

The Bulldogs shutout the Ducks during Oregon's regular-season home opener and first ever night game at Pape' Field. It was the Bulldogs first victory over the Ducks in their four-match series.

Jacobson came off the bench to drill a 20-yard shot from center field past a diving goalkeeper at 48:28 on a feed from Annie Hawkins.

It was the only point Gonzaga would need as they held off Oregon as the Ducks offense fired seven second-half shots. Oregon out-shot Gonzaga 13-5 as Bulldog goalkeeper Ashley Haugen collected five saves and Ducks goalkeeper Sarah Peters recorded one.

A. Hawkins tallied three shots and Claire Whitfield posted one for the Zags.

Gonzaga returns to non-conference action on the road Sunday against the Oregon State University Beavers (2-0-0) at 2 p.m. at Paul Lorenz Field.
