Weber State Gets Win Over Women's Basketball

OGDEN, Utah - Weber State University had three women score in double figures as they picked up their first win of the season over Gonzaga University women's basketball on Saturday night. The Wildcats defeated the Zags, 72-54.

Gonzaga (2-5) was led by sophomore forward Ashley Anderson with 13 points and four rebounds followed by Ashley Burke with nine and Raeanna Jewell with seven.

Weber State (1-5) had three players in double figures with Julie Gjertsen leading the way with 15 points, four assists, and Sheila Robertson with 13 and Angela Sampson with 10.

The Wildcats mounted an early lead, with a 12-point margin, 24-12, with 8:07 on the clock in the first half. Weber State went into the locker room at half with a 37-22 lead.

The Zags attempted to come back, but were unable to surpass the Wildcats, never narrowing the margin by less than 12 points.

Gonzaga shot 40.7 per cent (22-54) from the field while Weber State shot 50 per cent (23-46) and went 6-for-15 from the three-point line.

The Bulldogs return home to host Boise State University on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. in The Kennel.
