Volleyball Remains Winless In WCC Play

MALIBU, Calif. - Four Pepperdine University players reached double-figure kills on Friday night as the host Waves (4-9, 2-2 WCC) handed the visiting Gonzaga University Bulldogs their fifth straight West Coast Conference loss with a 3-0 victory. Katy Daly led the quartet of players with 13 kills as Pepperdine won 30-23, 30-22, 30-27. The loss dropped Gonzaga to 4-14 overall, 0-5 in the WCC.

Kristen Schultz joined Daly with 12 kills while Lecca Roberts and Sophia Milo each knocked down 11 during the Waves .252 team attacking percentage night. Senior Lauren Armas tried to keep the Bulldogs in the contest with a team-high 13 kills, the fifth straight time she has led the team offensively since GU lost the services of Christina Davis. Freshman Becky Jones was also a factor finishing with nine kills while Lacey Bell added eight.

The Bulldogs once again had a solid night in the back row with three players reaching double-digits for kills. Setter Emilee Gihring was the top GU player with 15 while Bell had 12 and Jessica Herrera contributed 11. Pepperdine libero Christina Hinds was the top defensive player of the night finishing with a match-high 21 digs.

Gonzaga wraps up its Los Angeles area swing on Saturday night with a 7 p.m. match at Loyola Marymount University.
