MORAGA, Calif. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team had freshman Sydney Lederhouse advance to the finals and one doubles team of junior Kendall Bates and senior Sirrah Williams advance to the finals Saturday at the Saint Mary's College ITA Invitational in Moraga, Calif.

In the quarterfinals round of singles GU had four players compete. Freshman Amanda Becker advanced to the semifinals round by defeating the University of California, Davis' Robin Guier, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, Bates defeated UCD's Cynthia Kitch, 7-6 (4), 6-3 and Lederhouse recorded the final win for GU in the quarterfinals round when she handed Santa Clara University's Flavia Miracle a straight sets loss, 6-0, 6-2. GU's only loss in the quarterfinals round came when freshman Erin Humphrey was defeated by SCU's Jessie Strunk, 6-0, 6-3.

In the semifinals round Becker would fall to the University of the Pacific's Anja Hermann, 6-4, 6-4 and Lederhouse defeated teammate Bates in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5.

In the backdraw competition Williams was defeated in the quarterfinals round by UCD's Kaitlin Callan, 6-2, 6-7 (3), 10-4.

In doubles play Gonzaga's team of Humphrey/Lederhouse were defeated by San Jose State's Ashley Tavita and Elke Harms, 8-4. GU's Becker teamed with the University of California, Berkeley's Englert for doubles action and was defeated by the University of Nevada, Reno's Fiorella Velez and Kristen Davenport, 8-4.

In the semifinals round of doubles the Bulldogs had the team of Bates/Williams defeat SJSU's Kathy Van and Courtney Koenigsflb, 8-5 to advance to the finals round.

The Saint Mary's College ITA Invitational will conclude on Sunday with the finals round of both the doubles and singles. Play is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
