Volleyball Falls To Hot Hitting Loyola Marymount

LOS ANGELES - Loyola Marymount University combined for a .440 team attack percentage on Saturday night as the Lions (13-5, 4-1 WCC) rolled over the Gonzaga University Bulldogs (4-16, 0-6 WCC) for a 3-0 West Coast Conference volleyball win. LMU won the match 30-12, 30-14 and 30-24.

LMU fired off a .583 attack percentage in the opening game and followed that up with a .464 clip in the second game as the Lions had three players reach double-figure kills. Heather Hughes paced the Lions offense with 12 kills while Jania Motton added 11 and Dina Debernardi chipped in with 10. Gonzaga attempted to keep pace with the Lions offense as GU finished with 29 team kills and a .097 attack percentage.

Lauren Armas was the top Gonzaga offensive player with seven kills while Rebecca Wood, Becky Jones and Lacey Bell all contributed six kills. Bulldogs libero Jessica Herrera led all players with 11 digs while Armas and Bell each had three blocks to highlight the Bulldogs efforts.

In addition to thier hot hitting, Loyola Marymount dropped in nine service aces while Gonzaga finished with none. The Bulldogs return to action on Friday night when they host the University of Portland at 7 p.m. in Martin Centre.
