SAN JOSE, Calif. - Matt Munroe and Stu Bell each shot a final-round 75 to fall out of the top 10 and Gonzaga University slipped a notch to fourth on the final day of the Santa Clara University Invitational on Tuesday.
Munroe finished with a 54-hole total of 225 to tie for 14th and Bell finished at 226 to tie for 16th. Munroe was tied for sixth and Bell knotted for eighth after Monday's 36 holes.
Ryan Miller shot a 70 on Tuesday over the 6,926-yard, par 72 Silver Creek Valley Country Club, the best round for a Bulldog in the tournament, and climbed into a tie for 18th with a 227.
The host Broncos shot a 296 on Tuesday for a 54-hole total of 884 and an easy 10-stroke win over Holy Names University. The University of Portland, which trailed Gonzaga by one stroke for third place on Monday, shot a 288 for a 902. Gonzaga's 292, its best round of the tournament, nonetheless relegated the Bulldogs to fourth with a 905.
First-day co-leader Michael Nicoletti of SCU shot a final-round 71 to finish at 1-under par 215 and a 2-stroke lead over Brian Little of Sacramento State University, Monday's other co-leader, who shot a 73 on Tuesday to finish at 217.
