USAFA, Colo. - Ryan Miller shot a final-round 69 to move into a five-way tie for sixth and help Gonzaga University finish seventh at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational hosted by the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Miller's 69 gave him a 54-hole total of 218, five strokes off medallist Jeff Franks of the University of Wyoming who shot a final-round 71 for a 209 and a 3-stroke lead over Bryan Manning of Grand Canyon University.
Miller had opening rounds of 76-73 on Friday and was tied for 26th before making his charge on Saturday.
The Bulldogs, seventh after 36 holes, didn't move in the standings following Saturday's 295 for a 54-hole score of 885, five strokes behind Utah Valley State College. Southern Utah State University won the team title with an 869, five shots better than Boise State University.
Matt Munroe of the Bulldogs, tied for ninth after 36 holes, shot a final-round 74 over the par 71, 7,239-yard Eisenhower Blue Course and dropped into a six-way tie for 11th.
The Bulldogs, playing their season opener, will be idle until Sept. 26-27 when they compete in the Vandal Men's Fall Classic hosted by the University of Idaho.
